1. Ensure to touch eyebrow ring with clean hands. Hands should be wash with soap preferably antibacterial one and dried before touching the eyebrow ring.

5. Nothing with alcohol, hydrogen peroxide or betadine should be applied on the piercing.

6. Consuming Vitamin-C supplements with the approval of the doctor would help to fight infection and speed up the healing process.

7. Care should be taken to not wear any makeup near the piercing. Makeup can contain bacteria which could cause infection.

8. Swimming should be avoided until the wound heals. However the water may seem clean or clear, it would contain bacteria which could cause infection.

9. Very soft bristled new toothbrush dipped in hot water could be used to brush off any crusting from the barbell.

10. Meddling with ring or barbell is not advisable as it could irritate the wound and it may take longer to heal.

11. Once pierced, it better to wear the ring or barbell at least for 6 months at a stretch so that the piercing wouldn’t close up.

12. None should be allowed to touch the ring or barbell as the bacteria could easily migrate from one person to another.

13. Better to sleep with face up to avoid danger of snagging the ring and bacteria from the pillow infecting the wound.

14. Most important: persisting redness and swelling are signs of infection. The piercer or the doctor should be contacted immediately.

Henna Tattoo Ink

Henna ink tattoo is suitable for all types of skin and will last for 1-3 weeks. Henna and henna ink kits can be bought at grocery stores, herbal shop or online. They come in black, red and green, blue and amber colors. To make henna mixture at home, the natural henna leaves should be finely ground and mixed with lemon juice and eucalyptus oil, after 2-3 hours, the paste could be applied on the skin directly with paintbrush or a squeeze bottle. The design could be repeatedly remoistened using sugar water to get a good a color on the skin. It takes at least 2 hours for the dye to set. Once the designs sets, it stays on for 10 days in thick skin like soles of feet and palms and 3-5 days on soft body parts and dry skin.

If irritation arises due to henna ink or body art paint glycerin could be used to remove it. Also any product that contains Tea Tree oil will help to resolve the condition.

Body Art Paints

Skin Illustrator is a body art paint which is especially designed for sensitive skin and for children. It comes in various colors and produces great designs. This is easy to clean and great for using in carnivals, haunted house, costume parties and plays. The best part is it can be used close to eyes and lips as well. It can be painted using air brush to get variety of effects. But there are two downsides to it.

• It’s very expensive about $70.00 for a set of 6 or 7 tubes in one grouping.
• It’s flammable and should not be stored near cigarettes, flames and fire works.

It has to be cleaned with alcohol. Alcohol doesn’t cause skin irritation but in some cases it can.

Acrylic paints mixed with one part water to parts of paints can be used for body art. The non alcohol based ones on gentle on the skin and last for several days. These paints would be available in arts and crafts shop.

Snazaroo brand paints are good for use on children as they are non toxic and suit all types of skin. They last up to days if kept away from water. They wash off with water and soap. It’s difficult to locate this product as it sold in bulk quantities for fundraising events. So may be worth trying at fundraising supplies shoppe.

Designs on the nail: At least two coats of nail polished should be applied before designing it. A pin or and other small pointy object could be used to make small dots on the nail. If someone else could do it would all the better. Glitter glue could be used to create designs as well. But the nails should be gently fanned or blow dryer should be used to dry them quickly.

Other option to use any other color other than base color to draw designs like vertical line in the centre of the nail or side to side or horizontal ones etc. Fine lines and wavy line at different angles could be done too. For these a spare nail polish brush should be cleaned by dipping in nail polish remover and the bristles trimmed until the desired fineness is obtained.

What is Henna?

How To Process Henna?

1. The powder should be sieved to remove chucks or leaves.

3. The mixture should be covered with plastic wrap and left for a day or two for the henna to release the dye molecules.

How To Apply Henna Tattoo?

• The tattoos can be done using a small paint brush (which is recommended for beginners), piping bag similar to icing cone used for decorating cake. These materials would be available at grocery stores or bakery and very reasonably priced.

• The designing could be done free hand or using a stencil. Other options are drawing designs using eyeliner pencil lightly and then trace on it with henna. This way mistakes could be corrected before applying henna.

• Transfer paper could be used too for getting the designs on the body. For transfers, the pattern should be drawn on a transfer paper and then deodorant should be applying in the area to be tattooed. Then the transfer paper should be pressed on the area with hand. On removing the paper, the pattern would be visible in the body and henna could be applied over it.

• After applying the henna it is left to dried up and to be absorbed into the skin. Sealant made of lemon and sugar mixture is used to keep the ink in place. Even a hair gel spray could be used as sealant.

• Once the sealant dries, the design should be wrapped first with tissue and then a plastic wrap and left overnight. The next morning the wrap should be removed and the tattoo would be visible. It stays on for about 8 to 10 days its better to try this out in a small area of the body which need not be moved much to get a feel for it.
