Skin Cleansing Tips At Home

All of us are concerned about the cleanliness of our skin and strive to maintain good hygiene. Although some women may be careless about caring for their skin, most others try to do their best. They are always on the lookout for ways to improve their skin condition and would like some clarifications about doubts they harbour.

The most common thing women want to know is the optimum temperature of bath water. During the colder months it is not possible to bathe with cold water. Warm water is safe for bathing daily. Due care must be taken that the water is not too hot else it will strip away natural oil completely and leave the skin dry. The topmost layer of the skin may also be damaged by everyday use of very hot water.

Another source of heat from which the skin must be protected is the sun. In addition the sun’s rays have UV rays which can penetrate deep into the skin. These UV rays are present even on cloudy days so use a sunscreen every day. Many gadgets like TV and computer give off radiation harmful for our skin so sun block should be worn indoors as well.

The kind of soap best for the skin may also cause confusion. Soap contains a substance known as surfactants. Surfactants break down oil and help oil and water to mix. When we apply soap to our body it breaks down the oil on the skin, allowing water to wash away the dirt. Different brands of soap have different quantities of surfactants. Those that have a higher proportion wash away more oil.

Each person has to see which soap suits her skin type otherwise it may cause dryness and irritation. A soap containing moisturiser would clean as well as moisturise the skin and probably suit most people.

Before applying makeup it is prudent to wash the face. Sometimes you retouch your makeup with face powder. As you go about your daily routine, dust and dirt stick to your makeup and skin. If you apply more powder without washing your face, you are just pushing the dirt deeper into your skin. This will cause rashes and pimples.

Before using wax or bleach test for an allergic reaction. Apply a little of what you intend to use on a patch of skin and let it remain for fifteen to twenty minutes. Then wash it off. If there is no reaction within twenty four hours then that product is safe for your skin. If there is any itching or irritation during testing, wash off immediately with soap and water.

Saunas are good for the skin as they increase the blood circulation and a healthy balance is maintained in the fluids of the body. They cause a lot of perspiration and many toxins are thrown out of the body along with it. The body and skin become cleaner from inside and outside.
